Altandhu is a crofting township a few miles from Achilitibuie, on the Coigach peninsula in the northwest Highlands of Scotland.
SatNavs should be set to postcode IV26 2YR (though this covers a largish area). Take the A835 north out of Ullapool. About ten miles along turn left, signposted "Achiltibuie", on to a single-track road. About ten miles along this you come to a big sandy bay. The road wants to take you left to Achiltibuie, but don't follow it - instead turn sharp right, signposted "Altan Dubh". After couple of miles you get a fine view of the sea and the Summer Isles. At the foot of the hill follow the road round to the left and you will find the Old Schoolhouse below the road on your right. The drive from Ullapool takes about 45 minutes. |
